Blog: Biophilic Portico Proposed to Revitalize Downtown Core

A key commercial hub in the Downtown District, Bentall Centre is undergoing a series of revitalization upgrades with the goal of creating a vibrant retail and food and beverage hub in the Vancouver downtown core. Future planned upgrades include additional retail amenities at grade and a fully revitalized below grade retail concourse connected to the Burrard Station Skytrain. These are intended to create a dynamic destination for residents and visitors with layers of activation across the site.

The proposed Portico will function as an access point and vertical transportation connection to the newly revitalized retail concourse level below grade. Situated between Bentall Towers 1 and 2, it is intended to create sub-grade connectivity between the north and the south ends of the site and to Burrard Station Skytrain at Dunsmuir. A new set of escalators will activate the north edge of the plaza, bringing pedestrians to the area and enhancing the animation brought about by the upgraded plaza seating and landscaping.
