“However vast the darkness, we must supply our own light.” Stanley Kubrick

And sometimes the light is just a place. A place to retreat to with likeminded friends. A place to enjoy a proper cocktail. We had all of this in mind when we conceptualized The Wednesday Room. From coming up with the name and the branding to designing the room, the furniture and the décor, McKinley Studios fully orchestrated this perfect little lounge.

And being the film buffs that we are, we decided to make this one a secret homage to one of our heroes: Stanley Kubrick. You can find echoes of many of his films – like The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Dr. Strangelove, and Lolita – hidden in everything from the carpet, to the art and the coasters.

It’s a fun game to see what hidden references you can find throughout the space while enjoying our favourite cocktail: The Real McKinley (Henessy, Earl Grey Syrup and lemon juice).

See you next Wednesday.
